tbh a third of hits wasted on parameters is exactly the case where it matters, size aside. I’d fix the internal links first (sort links as buttons or with the param stripped), then block the worst patterns in robots once you’ve confirmed nothing valuable lives on them. Also check your XML sitemap lastmod, if it’s stamping every URL with today’s date Google learns to ignore it and new products wait longer.

I had one site drop around 60% in a core update last year and yes it was mostly AI drafts. But looking back the problem was obvious. 200+ posts in 3 months, all the same structure, none of them said anything a competitor didn’t already say. The AI part was just what let me publish that much junk that fast.

My other site uses it for outlines and some drafting and is fine.

Almost always a quality/duplication signal in my experience, not a technical problem. Take 10 of those URLs and honestly compare them with what’s already ranking. If yours says the same thing with less detail, Google has no reason to keep it.

What worked for me: merged the weak ones into fewer, better posts with 301s, and linked the survivors from pages that already get traffic.

Internal links from the old posts that already had traffic to the new pages. Nothing fancy, 3-4 contextual links per new article. New posts got indexed in days instead of weeks and started ranking a lot faster.
