I’ve been sending about 150 outreach emails a week for a B2B software client, mostly pitching data pieces. Open rate went from around 45% last year to 28% now, and replies are down to 3-4%.
My current subject lines are pretty plain, stuff like “quick question about your article on X” or “data for your piece on Y”. I suspect everyone uses the same patterns now and they just look like templates.
What’s working for you? Lowercase, no question mark, mentioning the article title, something else entirely?
