Curious what ratios people are actually running with right now for a new site. I’ve seen everything from “never use exact match” to people doing 20% exact and ranking fine.
My current rough plan for a money site in a competitive niche:
– branded / naked URL: ~50%
– generic (click here, this site etc): ~15%
– partial match: ~25%
– exact match: under 10%
Too conservative? Too aggressive? What are you seeing work?
The only real way to answer this is to look at what the top 5 in your SERP have. Pull their anchor profiles in Ahrefs and average them. Some niches the winners have almost zero exact match, others they’re sitting at 15%. Copying a generic ratio from a forum post (including this one lol) doesn’t mean much.
