I run a food blog and Pinterest is still a big traffic source for me. Pinterest Trends shows what people are actually searching on Pinterest by week, and the curves start rising much earlier than you would think.
How I use it:
– Search a seasonal term like pumpkin bread and look at when the curve starts climbing. For most holiday recipes it is six to eight weeks before the date, so that is when I pin.
– Filter by region. US and UK patterns are different for things like Thanksgiving and bonfire night food.
– Check the related trends list for recipe angles I had not considered, which often become their own posts.
– Compare two terms to choose the phrasing for pin titles.
Downside: data is only available for a limited set of countries and smaller niches often return nothing. It also shows relative interest, not actual search volume.
