Since HARO shut down I’ve been working the journalist request platforms and the Twitter/X hashtag requests for a B2B payroll client. Two months of honest effort:
– 41 pitches sent
– 3 quotes published
– 2 actual followed links (one was a regional business site, one a decent HR publication)
Each pitch takes me 15-20 minutes because I get the founder to approve the quote. So roughly 12 hours for 2 links. The client is happy enough but I’m not sure it scales.
Things I’ve noticed: requests posted in the first hour get flooded, anything with “tips from experts” in it is basically a lottery, and the ones asking for a specific data point or a named case get far fewer responses.
For those still doing this kind of sourcing in 2026, what does your ratio look like? And are you filtering requests by publication before pitching, or pitching everything that fits and letting the numbers work?
