Separate from the indexing report, the URL Inspection tool in Search Console is the thing I open first whenever a single page behaves oddly. The live test shows you what Googlebot actually fetched and rendered right now.
How I use it:
– Compare Google-selected canonical with user-declared canonical. When they differ, that is usually the whole story.
– Run the live test and open View tested page, then the HTML tab. If content loaded by JavaScript is missing there, Google is not seeing it either.
– Check the More info tab for blocked resources. A disallowed JS or CSS file shows up here long before rankings drop.
– Only use Request Indexing after you have fixed something. Spamming it does nothing.
Downside: there is a daily quota on inspections and no bulk mode in the interface. For more than a handful of URLs you need the API.
