Last year I built a small free calculator (loan repayment type thing, nothing fancy) for a personal finance site. It took about 3 weeks of dev time and has picked up 41 referring domains without any outreach, which beats everything else on the site.
Now I’m trying to decide if a second tool is worth it or if I got lucky. Anyone else built free tools purely for links? Curious what the build cost vs links earned looked like for you, and whether some tool types flopped.
