Local roofing market. Competitor went from 40 reviews to 210 in about 10 weeks. Most are from profiles with one review, generic text, some posted within minutes of each other. They jumped from 4th to 1st in the map pack across most of town.
I’ve reported about 30 individual reviews through the profile. Maybe 5 got removed. Also submitted the business redress form with screenshots and dates. No reply after 3 weeks.
My client is understandably annoyed and asking if we should “fight fire with fire”, which I’ve said no to.
What has actually worked for you? Is the redress route worth pursuing, or better to focus on getting more real reviews and wait for the filter to catch up? Anyone had a competitor’s review spam get cleaned up and seen rankings drop back?
