Checking local rankings from your own phone is useless because results depend on where you stand. BrightLocal has a free Local Search Results Checker that shows the Google results as seen from a specific location, and I use it all the time.
How I use it:
– Enter the keyword and the exact address or postcode of a customer area, not just the city. Map pack results can change within a few streets.
– Check three or four points around the business to understand how far its visibility reaches.
– Screenshot the results for clients who insist they rank first because they see it on their own phone at the office.
– Compare mobile and desktop views, they are not always the same.
Downside: the free checker is manual and one search at a time. Tracking over time needs their paid plans, and the free tool has usage limits if you run many checks a day.
