Every audit I get from clients lately has the same line: add author bios, author pages, credentials, schema. Fine, it’s not hard to do. But I’ve never seen clean before/after data that it moved rankings on its own.
We added bios and author pages on a mid-size finance blog about 4 months ago, around 120 posts. Traffic went up slightly but a core update landed in the same window so I honestly can’t separate it.
Anyone have a cleaner test? Or is this mostly a trust thing for users and not something Google measures directly?
My take: the bio box itself does nothing. What does something is having a real person behind the content who exists elsewhere on the web, writes consistently on the same topic, and the content actually shows first-hand experience. The bio just connects the dots. Slapping a stock photo and ‘expert writer’ on 300 posts is theatre.
