The site I’m working on has been through three domain/structure changes since 2019. Some old URLs go through 3-4 hops before landing on the final page, http to https, old domain to new, old path to new path, then trailing slash.
Crawled about 2,100 redirecting URLs and 640 of them are chains of 3 or more. Logs show Googlebot still requesting a bunch of the oldest ones regularly.
Is flattening all of them worth the dev time, or do people just fix the ones with backlinks and ignore the rest?
